Nairn

The area around Nairn offers a huge variety of things to do. Step back in history with a visit to a castle or ancient abbey, or simply enjoy being outdoors in nature with a walk or cycling tour. You can also get boat trips to see the Moray Firth dolphins or sometimes spot them from the shore.

Nairn is a beautiful little former fishertown on the East Coast of Scotland. Very famous in Victorian times as the Brighton of the North because of its marvellous beaches and the perfect climate which claims to be the driest and sunniest part of Scotland.

Today it’s an ideal holiday destination where you can relax on the beach, look out for the dolphins in the Moray Firth, play golf (Nairn Golf Club, Nairn Dunbar Golf Club and nearby Castle Stuart) and eat out in a choice of good restaurants.

It is very well connected by plane, train or bus. Nairn is easy to reach from Inverness Airport (9 miles) and Inverness city centre (17 miles) on the A96.

Another reason to visit Nairn is variety of events which it hosts every year – including the Nairn Farmers’ ShowThe Highland Gamesthe Coast to Coast Rat Race which starts from Nairn or the weekly Nairn Ceilidh every Thursday from mid-June to end of August at the Community Centre, 8.00pm.
